Hello All,

I'm currently organising the Exhibition Road Music Day on Sunday 21 June. There are three major piano events happening at the FREE festival that I think you might enjoy.

In the morning: Pianocircus invites enthusiastic and fun loving amateur pianists of all ages to join them at the Royal Geographical Society from 11-12pm for an informative and entertaining workshop based on contemporary repertoire for keyboard ensemble. Join Pianocircus as they explore compositional and performance techniques, ensemble playing and keyboard skills. This will be followed by two concerts, at 12.30pm and 13.30pm of their unique and exciting repertoire for six pianos. For more information go to www.exhibitionroadmusicday.org

For the entire day, in the Natural History Museum East Gardens, you can find a Street Piano, which you are invited to come along and play and exhibit your own keyboard skills!

In the afternoon: At 5pm, the Royal College of Music invite you to attend their concert 'The Evolution of the Piano', charting a brief but exciting history of the instrument, from Purcell to present day. This concert will be presented by concert pianist, internationally reknowned lecturer and Timeout's 'What's the Score' columnist, Karl Lutchmayer. The concert will culminate in the World Premiere of a new work by SPNM short-listed composer, Gavin Higgins, the four hand piano duet, 'Mechanical Cabaret'. The concert will feature the stars of the RCM Piano Faculty, four of which will subsequently be found competing at the Leeds International Piano Competition! Its a great opportunity to spot piano stars of the future.

All of the above performances and workshops are ABSOLUTELY FREE! I know that Natalie is extremely busy with her concert that week, but if someone else would like to arrange a meet up, perhaps for the evening concert at the RCM, I would be delighted to invite you all. Please don't hesitate to contact me on fhardcastle at rcm.ac.uk.

Best Wishes,

Frances
